- "Power and Precision"
- — Iron Tank motto
Iron Tank FC is one of the football clubs in the Super League. The team itself represents Germany and the members are consists of former and active Bundeswehr soldiers from different divisions. They are considered as the toughest and strongest team that the Super League have ever seen. Their stadium is located in the Alps on high altitude covered with ever-lasting snow from the mountains and altitude nausea, which is a very good home ground advantage point for the team against their enemies.
The stadium is called The Fortress Stadium with a capacity of 75,000 seats, it is widely known to have the appearance of a very large metal fortress that is supported with thick beams beneath that are covered with thick snow. A large mountain statue of an eagle spreading its wings on their side of the stadium can be seen above, which is also a balcony for Iron Tank players to watch their opposition in practice.
Facilities[]
The Iron Tank has very unique facilities to offer for their players. Due to their player's experiences in military life, the club itself is under the motif of a military theme training and lifestyle. The most notable facilities that they have are the barracks, highway strip, and the submarine port. They are the only team in the Super League who caters their players to sleep together near their stadium, this is either to follow the military motif or as a way to garner trust among teammates.
Other facilities that they have are the Tactical Room and Observation Room which were added ever since Ja Nein's debut, these places are used in order to plan out different strategies and tactics that can be applied to them or to their oppositions.
The Barracks[]
Resembles a Quonset Hut-style military barracks, this is where all of the Iron Tank players live, rest, and entertain most of their time. It is common tradition for the Iron Tank FC players (along with their coach) to kick a player out for the whole night if the said player gets injured by their opponents after a game as a form of "shame." Those players who got kicked out would sleep outside the barracks in other facilities or just like Johann Uber's case, to the Alpine Hotel.
The Highway Strip[]
The Highway Strip is where most of the Iron Tank FC players would do warm-up trainings (push ups, sit ups, etc.) and also reporting duties with the other players under Colonel Von Pushup's command. It is consist of a large long runway used for their military airplane, a large helipad, other facilities, a flag pole, and loud speaker poles. Due to the snow from the Alps and less maintenance staff, it is not unusual to see the Iron Tank players themselves to do the cleaning and repairing their facilities as a form of punishment or duty. This facility is also used as a meet-up for all players (along with their coach) to garner tactics and military drill training, this is evident during every Iron Tank episode where they are trying to analyze Supa Strikas' performance.
The Submarine Port[]
The Iron Tank FC are one of the teams (along with Hydra FC) who have a canon underwater vehicle for their players; but rather than using it as a form of training, they use it as a form of espionage. It is highly unknown why they do that in the first place, but it is implied in the series that they are taking rounds around the northern part of Europe to survey the glaciers for training and check its conditions. All players of the Iron Tank have experience on how to do their part in the submarine with their experiences reflecting on what position they are in, an example of this is for Ja Nein who done most of the intellectual work (surveying signals, positioning, and navigation) and Uber in commanding (if the coach is not present). Just like the Highway Strip, the Iron Tank players also clean the port out of punishment or duty.
The Gym[]
In a team full of muscle power, it is highly important for the Iron Tank players to have a gym in their facilities. Their gym is located inside The Fortress Stadium in an unknown section, it is consist of various training equipment with highly unusual amount of weights ranging from beginners to pro weight lifters. There are treadmills and punching bags to be seen and used by the Iron Tank players, but sometimes they prefer to do raw powerful training than with technological devices like standard military strength and agility drills. This is due to the fact that they can have the power to destroy them while using them which is evident in the episode "The Crunch".
Uniform[]
The standard Iron Tank FC football uniform has a base color of white with the upper half of the torso excluding the shoulder sleeves covered in military green. A red highlight ring is evident below the military green that is separated with a white gap. The shorts are white with a red vertical streak at opposite sides. Their socks has the same pattern of color of their shirt. Behind the shirt have their numbers that are streaked in white and can only be covered throughout the military green background. In the animated series, their boots have black outsole with a military green upper and grey midsole with studs while the comics show the same from the animated series except the upper is in the same color of the midsole and studs.
Known Members[]
All players of the Iron Tank FC have experience in military training and lifestyle, which makes them one of the teams in the Super League who don't accept and recommend players who were outside their desired requirements.
- Colonel von Pushup (Coach)
- Johann Uber
- Thor
- Von Eye
- Ja Nein
- Erik
- The Mangler
- Kurt
Playstyle[]
The Iron Tank has two key play styles that they have, defensive and offensive. But in majority of the series, they are more on to the defensive side. It is not unusual to see them play defensive almost all the time since that their other greatest asset in this part is the usage of counterattacks and infiltration to the opposition field in order to catch their enemies off guard.
Strengths[]
Their main strength in the team are coordinated teamwork and brutal force; with these two factors in control, the football field is theirs to conquer. Due to their sizes and direct plays, it is no wonder that they can apply fear and intimidation to their oppositions with ease. With the combination of ruthlessness and strength, they can make any player who dares to cross them have a doubt in their abilities and use it to their own advantage. Their coordinated teamwork relies a lot in opportunity, timing, and positioning; an example of this is where three Iron Tank players are applied in order to install pressure against a very good opposing player in order to cripple their ability to do their role (Offensive role - Season 3: "Cool Joe Loses His Groove Pt. 2".) Another example of coordinated teamwork is applying their skills in the Iron Curtain to forcefully repel the ball away from the goal in a very strategic manner (Defensive role - Season 5: "License to Coach".)
Their other strength, which is brutal force, is applied almost everywhere in the field no matter where they are. Forces like: pushing, pinning, and tripping are to name a few of common minor activities that they done against their oppositions. Major forces like: body tackling, pulling limbs, and excessive assault are the more dangerous ones that can be applied during rare occasions when they are getting highly desperate. These forces are used only to further cripple their opposition both in fear and literally.
Weaknesses[]
Despite their dirty plays in the Super League, they have two weaknesses. Those are skill and speed. The Iron Tank is prepared on terms both of offence and defence, but they are not prepared when there are sudden surprises being implemented in the field. Skilful players can benefit the most when fighting against these tough giants especially when they can out manoeuvre them to avoid injury from their assaults. Skilful shots and tricks can be the end for Iron Tank's game unless they have a pretty effective goalkeeper for defence. An example of their weakness in the usage of skill is when Shakes began using an ancient move in "Cuju be Loved", and usage of speed by applying pressure on a ball that can make the Iron Tank players to be stunned in defending their goal.
In unusual circumstances, Iron Tank FC players has a weakness as well in confronting a team that can be on the same spectrum of ruthlessness as they are. They can't confront properly against players who play rough and they tend to play safe, which makes their strength of brutal force becoming useless in their field of play. Even though that they can play rough against them, the thought of being injured can be quite mentally taxing to them especially that it will be punishment that awaits them back at the barracks after the game.
Team Tactics[]
The Iron Tank FC have a few well-known coordinated team formations that made them standout to other Super League teams, their formations have one form of play style, and that is defence.
The Iron Curtain[]
A very effective defensive formation that consists of two rows of players blocking their side of the goal as a double layer wall. It is highly effective due to their players having the power to cover all incoming attacks in every sense of direction and possible strategic manoeuvres. It is regarded as one of the most effective team formations along with Orion FC's Constellation Formation and Hydra FC's Triple Side Defence.
Breakthrough[]
The Iron Tank FC's The Iron Curtain is consist of two rows of Iron Tank players, four players in each row. Two excess players which is consist of strikers/attacking midfielders will be in standby at the front of the curtain as a form of "supply offence" in case that The Iron Curtain successfully repel the ball as a counter attack.
The formation have managed to be advantageous in all forms of defence. Over, through, and around. Due to their sizes and positioning, they are able to cover all forms of directions which makes the ball passing towards the strikers extremely hard to accomplish. When passing the ball through the iron curtain, the effect of the formation will take place as a pincer defence which shows Iron Tank players pinning down the marked opposing player when the ball is passed towards them which cause them to be stunned and lose the chance in obtaining the ball from their teammate. Injury is likely to happen during the pinning. When passing the ball over the iron curtain, the formation will be in header defence. The formation itself manage to lessen the reaction time for opposing players to reach the ball, making the Iron Tank players to have enough time to repel the ball away before the opposition to strike it. During around the curtain, the wall will part ways when opposing players would go at the sides to be available for the ball only for the a gap to be presented at the middle. Despite the open gap, it became another form of defence as well for The Iron Curtain; the narrow opening cause only for the ball to shoot towards the goalkeeper.
In order to break The Iron Curtain, it is important to exhibit patience and timing. An example of this is where Shakes taunting Uber in a square off as a way to get an opening from the formation. It is important for players of the Iron Tank to be disciplined and not be brash in doing actions during this type of formation which can make The Iron Curtain a very formidable display of team work in the Super League.
Rough Play[]
An infamous tactic that Iron Tank players ought to do whenever the situation is desperate or is part of the plan of their schemes. This is the kind of tactic where Iron Tank players would play dirty by injuring the opposition through pulling, pushing, and tripping. In every formation and action they would always bring this to the table in order to throw off their enemies in both their guards and quite literally.
Breakthrough[]
There is no strategic application of Rough Play in the field. Although it can be used as a manner to find the weak spot of every opposing player like a past injury and a useful limb during passing or dribbling the ball. In order to execute Rough Play, the players would use to gang up against the marked opposition as a form of intimidation. Once covered, the marked opposition will get tripped, pulled, or pushed by one of the unsuspecting players to falter their performance. This might result to a yellow or red card... but in most cases, none at all. Since that Rough Play has an indirect effect of intimidating the referee which cause them to further increase their ferocity in the field.
In order to avoid Rough Play, it is important to be skilled and wary around their environment. Players should be very careful who they are facing especially in terms of strategic positioning, since that each player who would administer Rough Play is done individually.
Operation: Double Trouble[]
A scheming yet well-coordinated foul that only targets one enemy player and would only need two or more people to execute this technique. Just like Rough Play, Double Trouble is where two or more Iron Tank players would gang up on one person (who is deemed to be a threat in the field).
