Shakes Mokena is a fictional character and the main protagonist in the comic and TV series, Supa Strikas. He is the head striker in Supa Strikas FC, although this is often disputed by El Matador. He may be between 17 and 20 years old.
Jabz[]
Shakes is from South Africa, he grew up with his mom and sister, Nandi. He is the son of the previous football player for Supa Strikas, who disappeared in Mt. Kilimanjaro when Shakes was young. Shakes was also friends with Spenza and Skarra, although the his relationship with the latter turned into a rivalry
Events of Rookie Season
During his childhood, Shakes played for the City Rovers Football Club with his friend Zwelakhe Nomandla, Skarra and Spenza. His mother objected to Shakes love for football following her experience with a famed footballer who disappeared and left her to raise two children alone. This often led Shakes having to sneak out to play games and Spenza coming to his rescue. When Skarra was informed that Supa Strikas scouts would be at the Rovers' next game, Shakes decided to start training alone in order to stand out with the help of Spenza, however, during this time, there were several attempts to sabotage Shakes' progress. At a game against Deep Valley Football Club, Coach himself was at the game scouting for new players. Following a poor performance, which included Shakes missing a Bicycle Kick, Shakes became distraught and practiced after the game in the rain. Seeing this, Coach respected his dedication and determination and offered him a spot for the Supa Strikas tryout.
At the tryouts, Shakes and Skarra outshined the other two recruits Diego and Raj. At the final trial, Skarra failed as he chose to save himself rather than staying with the team when the train was falling. This resulted in Shakes making the team despite Skarra performing better. At the celebratory noodle bar, Spenza informed that Skarra was the saboteur that was hindering Shakes' training earlier. His mother and sister were both extremely proud and supportive of his succesWhile training for his first match, the Supa Strikas secret training compound was infiltrated by Johann Uber from Iron Tank FC using an invisibilty suit. However, as uber was making his escape, Shakes managed to pull off one of the invisibility suits' socks. On matchday, Shakes de Liquido - when coach asks him where Shaw is. After getting Klaus involved, North Shaw is rescued and returns for the second half. North Shaw vouches for Shakes and coach subs both Shaw and Shakes into the game. After an interception from Shaw leads to a counter-attack, Shakes finds himself with the ball. With some encouraging words from Shaw, Shakes maneuvers past two defenders and nets his first career goal. later in the game, Shakes gets ts, Shakes officially signs with Supa Strikas and also finds out Coach knew his father, Jomo. Despite his talent, Coach also shows concern and acts strictly with his players, benching them either they are in no condition to play or upon disobeying his orders. Shakes respects him and often make amends by winning the game to make him proud. Coach seems fond of him due to him having befriended his father back in his youth.

He has a good time working and always been helpful to his team. His friendships with his teammates are always good and equal as they all tend to work together to be the best.

No details have been provided thus far. What is known is that he had a close bond with them and was devastated over his father's disappearance in his childhood times. That became a prominent reason why he was into sports as he wanted to maintain his father's reputation to his club. It was revealed that Vince knew where Jomo, Shakes' father was. Johann Uber[]
When Iron Tank entered the Super League, Shakes became genuinely afraid of Uber for their intimidating behavior. His fear led him to over-train himself to the point of injury. Although he managed to defeat Uber, his fear still remains as he sometimes gets injured by Uber with his emotional scar remaining in Cujo be Loved until he use the Cujo move overcome it.
His Rivals[]
There are some equally good and bad among them. For example, he can get along with Riano, Miko Chen, Chuck T Chipperson, Don Aldo, and Liquido (outside the football world). However, other teams often try to sabotage the club and he was always targeted for their schemes.
Skarra[]
He and Shakes are always seen to be bitter and competitive against one another. Skarra was Shakes former best friend, as confirmed in Rookie Season. However, when Shakes was debriefed about it with the press, it was revealed that Skarra was always seen picking fights with him. Skarra may be resentful towards Shakes success and was relentless about wanting him in ruin. In the comic series, the two were seen to be extremely bitter and often being hostile whenever they meet. In the animated series, however, Shakes tends to put up with Skarra's behavior by ignoring him and focusing on his goals. He never shows hatred towards anyone, he just feels resent to the fact that Skarra always tries to use dirty tactics to win.

He is barely mentioned but was said in ep8 season 1 that he was a player but later left for athletics due to injuries and scholarships
Abilities[]
Shakes is one of the many talented football players in the Super League and is a quick learner. He can think out a game strategy as well as solve puzzling mysteries. Despite being caught and put through disasters from his rivals, he still manages to win games. He seems to be observant of his game, he is also had the ability to move at his peak of his skills to perform extreme focus, concentration, and will in the game, which known as the "Zone."

Bicycle Kick[]
One of his most famous move is the Bicycle Kick. He learned this trick when he was six and taught by his father, it is also known as Sunback Spike in Sepak Takraw.
Scorpion Kick[]
Shakes learned it from an ancient Egyptian pyramid tour, which he kicks the ball forward with both legs at his back while jump diving near the goal.
Knuckle Ball[]
The Knuckle Ball is one of Shakes' best moves. Completely unstoppable for any unfortunate goalie. But Benedict Bradley caught the unstoppable move. (It doesn't count because of PAUL, being a machine able to predict his moves.)

- He is a reference to Cristiano Ronaldo AKA CR7 having the same special moves - namely the "bicycle kick"
- Shakes' Knuckleball is also a nod to Cristiano Ronaldo.
- He and El matador use the same hair product.
- He is the youngest player in his club, and possibly in the Super League, besides Skarra.
- He would always warm up to make new friends.
- His mature side shows when he tolerate his friends' and rivals' attitudes and how he handles a case.

- Among the entire Supa Strikas FC players, Shakes stands out from everyone else by having red shoes with a yellow bolt-shaped line.
